My Journey as a Speaker & Podcaster: The Challenges, The Lessons & The Mission

February 2025 Newsletter

Two months ago, I took a leap of faith and joined The Speaker Lab Academy to learn how to become a better speaker, refine my message, and build a sustainable speaking career. It’s been an incredible learning experience, but I won’t sugarcoat it—this journey comes with its challenges.

The biggest hurdle? Getting that first gig. Large corporate events aren’t quick to hire a new speaker, and without an official speaking engagement, it’s nearly impossible to get a demo video—which is the key to landing more bookings. It’s a catch-22, but one I refuse to let hold me back.

In the meantime, I’ve been putting in the work! My new website, PamDwyer.com, is live and showcases my book (From the Piney Woods), my podcast (The Plus One Theory), and my speaking expertise. The Speaker Lab teaches that success comes from consistently reaching out to your niche audience, and that’s exactly what I’m doing. My talks focus on overcoming adversity, breaking through shame, anger, and fear, and creating stronger, healthier teams in the workplace. Journaling and healing are powerful tools for mental health, leadership, and personal growth, and I know my message will resonate.

Despite my efforts, I haven’t landed that first speaking engagement yet, but I’m not giving up. I believe in my story. I believe in my message. And I know it will impact many.

To help build momentum, I am offering to waive my speaking fee in exchange for organizations ordering books for their attendees. This way, audiences not only hear my story but leave with a tangible resource to continue their journey of healing and resilience. If you know of any conferences, corporate teams, or organizations that would benefit from my message, I’d love to connect!

🎙️ Podcast Update!
We are 8 episodes in on The Plus One Theory Podcast, and wow, it’s been a journey! We’ve had some sound issues along the way, and while some episodes are great quality, others, well… not so much. We use the same equipment and tools for each episode, but something wasn’t right. After some trial and error, we finally figured it out… it helps if you keep the 9V batteries current, ugh! 🤦‍♀️ Lesson learned!

It’s a work in progress, y’all, but I truly believe we finally have the sound worked out. So, Episode 9? Great sound AND great content! If you haven’t tuned in yet, now’s the perfect time to check it out.

Let’s make an impact together. If you’re on a journey of resilience, leadership, or personal growth, I’d love to hear your story too. Feel free to reply, connect, or share this with someone who needs it.

Thank you for being part of my journey, this is just the beginning!

With gratitude,
Pam Dwyer
